Overview

The Department of Political and Social Sciences has a ninety-year tradition of studies on the thematic areas of government and international relations, and it offers a first-level degree course in Political Science and International Relations.
The course provides a useful preparation both for an introduction into the working world and the continuation of studies through Master’s degrees, either in Italy or abroad.
Multidisciplinary training in the fields of politics, economics, statistics, sociology, law, and history leads to the analysis and understanding of society in its various and complex aspects.
The degree course also offers classes in foreign languages, including non-European languages, to provide or consolidate language skills and introduce students to the knowledge of specialized vocabularies.
The degree program encourages participation in international mobility programs (i.e. Erasmus study, Erasmus placement, exchanges with the USA and other non-European countries).
The course is divided into two curricula:
• International Studies
• Politics and Administration.
After the first year, which teaches basic arguments to all students, students acquire a more in-depth preparation in disciplines that characterize the degree course and that most satisfy their interests.

Career opportunities

The graduate in Political Science is called to carry out managerial functions with operational, managerial and direct responsibility; functions can be increased according to the level of experience acquired. Within the scope of the attributions to the different legal nature of the professional context (public / private /national / international), the graduate will be able to contribute to defining, implementing and pursuing objectives in different functional areas.
From the analysis of the labor market, based on surveys concerning the employment status of graduates and the consultation of representative organizations of production, services and professions, it emerges that employment and professional opportunities are the most varied thanks to the multidisciplinary training received.
Furthermore, the possibility to differentiate and characterize the training course allows students to be directed to specific areas of employment, to stimulate their curiosity, to enhance their talents and by providing appropriate profiles both for the continuation of studies and the development of a profession.
The employment of graduates concerns the private and public spheres, although in recent years there has been a greater absorption capacity by the private sector.
Precisely, the multidisciplinary approach guarantees a high level of adaptability to the variety of professional figures required by the labor market.
