Overview
Choosing an engineering degree course means being willing to play an important part in our growing and fast developing society. Engineering is the right choice for prospective student with a strong interest not only in scientific subjects but also in their application and with a “problem solving” attitude. The Faculty of Engineering at University of Pavia also offers an highly effective teaching by professors with a strong scientific background and a direct connection with the economic environment: this two characteristics make the scientific research and teaching at the Faculty of Engineering constantly linked to a growing industry.
This course aims to train skilled professionals ready to work in the civil engineering and environmental engineering fields on a number of levels such as design, production or management.
Thanks to the strong backgrounds in physics, mathematics and engineering a graduate from Civil and Environmental Engineering has an highly appreciated mix of skills that works both on design activities.
Students can choose to focus their study plan on two tracks:
• Civil Engineering where main subjects are construction science and technique, hydraulics, geotechnical, structures project, topography, design with processing, graphics, technical physics.
• Environmental Engineering where main subjects are construction science and technique, hydraulics, hydrology, foundations of sanitary and environmental engineering, topography, technical physics.

Career opportunities
Graduate from Ingegneria Civile e Ambientale are employed by both public and private contractors and work mainly on construction, transport and communication sectors also as freelances. This includes bridges, roads, tunnels, canals and other large structure. There are many opportunities with local authorities, government departments and environmental organisations, where engineers are often involved in setting project specifications for urban and area design and environment compliance.
