Panoramica
The Bachelor’s Degree in Economics aims to provide university-level education characterized by a comprehensive understanding of both macroeconomic phenomena and the activities of individual economic operators, such as industries, financial and service companies, and national and international public institutions.
To achieve this, the program is structured with a core curriculum that emphasizes foundational and methodological courses, along with specialized courses designed to prepare graduates to conduct quantitative analyses to support financial decision-making, address challenges faced by private companies, the public sector, and international organizations and evaluate companies’ strategic choices using an in-depth understanding of the economic and regulatory environment and leveraging modern statistical tools and information technologies.
The program is divided into six semesters. During the first three semesters, to ensure a solid interdisciplinary foundation, the curriculum—largely shared with other Bachelor’s degree programs offered by the Department—includes courses in economics, business, law, and statistical/mathematical disciplines. In addition, students receive instruction in English (at an intermediate level), along with the development of appropriate computer skills. Starting from the fourth semester, building upon this strong foundational education, the program includes selected courses aimed at orienting their training towards more specific objectives. These courses equip students with both theoretical and empirical tools, enabling them to understand observed economic trends, make forecasts about future economic dynamics and critically examine potential behavioral strategies for companies, market operators, and institutions.
The program concludes with an internship or equivalent activity, aimed at facilitating entry into the labor market, enhancing the academic curriculum through participation in thematic seminar cycles, or completing a personal research project under the supervision of a faculty member.
Upon completion of the program, graduates will be qualified to work as macroeconomic analysts, socio-economic researchers, or economists in industrial, financial, and service companies, as well as in national and international public institutions. Specifically, career opportunities include: positions in industrial companies and providers of advanced services, utilities (telecommunications, energy, transportation), antitrust authorities, and regulatory bodies; roles in asset management companies, investment banks, brokerage firms (SIMs), and research departments of commercial banks; employment in multinational corporations, the public sector, international organizations, and institutions involved in globalization processes.
The Degree Course in Economics also provides the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue second-level degree programs or first-level Master’s courses.
