Overview

The Degree in “Ostetricia” is a three-year professionalizing degree course.
The educational activities are divided into theoretical lessons and practical training, integrating the contents in compliance with the training objectives.
The theoretical lessons, elective teaching activities, and seminars are carried out by university professors and SSN employees who update their contents according to the Medicine of Evidence in order to achieve the qualifying training objectives.
The midwives are entrusted with official courses related to the scientific-disciplinary sector of their relevance, thus contributing to complete the professional training.
The internship and the professional laboratory work are carried out by the students at: the birth point of a third level center; a IRCCS (hospital); an accredited structure;or obstetric, gynecological and neonatological Operating Units, supported by a tutor belonging to the same professional profile in a 1: 1 or 2: 1 ratio.

Career opportunities

The midwife practices the profession in public and private hospitals as an employee or as a freelancer, on the territory in family counseling centers, as a freelancer in full autonomy in assistance to pregnancy, childbirth, home delivery, or in Maternity Homes.
