Overview
The course in “Biotecnologie” aims at training graduates able to understand and analyze biological phenomena with an interdisciplinary focus aimed at technology transfer, product creation, and integrated management of production processes, in compliance with legislation and, deontological problems, bioethics and intellectual properties related to these activities.
Biotechnology students will therefore have the opportunity to acquire basic skills in mathematical, chemical and physics disciplines, as well as specific skills in those biotechnological areas that are typically multidisciplinary and include molecular, cellular, bioinformatics, ethical-legal, chemical-pharmaceutical, and medical-health aspects.
This training is achieved via a set of lessons shared by all students who can deepen their knowledge by selecting courses that develop more specific skills in the molecular, chemical-pharmaceutical, or medical fields.
The course is suitable for both the continuation of university education with a second-level degree in biology, biotechnology or medical-pharmaceutical disciplines, band immediate entrance into the world of work, thanks to the solid preparation bases and the methodological approach received.

Career opportunities
The graduate biotechnologist shall be able to perform professional roles and have the opportunity to immediately enter the labor market.
Thanks to an interdisciplinary training, the graduate in Biotechnology will be able to work both individually and in work contexts involving interaction with groups composed of staff with different skills and training.
The graduate will find a place in the area of design, production, product analysis and quality control procedures.
The employment opportunities available on the territory are significant, thanks to the considerable concentration of research and academic structures and laboratories, as well as the expansion of research and analysis activities of SMEs operating in the chemical, chemical-pharmaceutical, agro-food sectors, and the high biological technology for bioremediation, the disposal of polluting waste, the use of biomass.
Typically, these structures can be summarized in the following list:
- Research centers and companies for the development of biotechnological products and services in the biomedical, bioengineering, chemical-pharmaceutical, nutraceutical-cosmetological, zootechnical-veterinary, agri-food and environmental protection sectors;
- Structures of the NHS, Hospitals, Experimental Zooprophylactic Institutes;
- Public and private specialized clinical analysis laboratories;
- Public and private Universities and Research Institutes;
- Authorities responsible for the elaboration of health or patent regulations concerning the exploitation of biotechnological processes and products.
