Overview

The bachelor’s degree in Scienze Giuridiche e Innovazione is an innovative joint degree program offered by the University of Pavia and the University of Milano-Bicocca, delivered predominantly online.
Its distinctive character lies in both its teaching methods, which combine in-person classes (for a total of 27 CFUs) with online learning (for a total of 153 CFUs), and in its contents.

The degree program aims to train legal professionals with interdisciplinary skills, who combine a solid foundation with expertise in the most innovative areas of law, while at the same time being able to operate in national and international environments across sectors that are rapidly transforming due to technological development.
The curriculum is structured around three core areas:

- Legal Studies
- Economics and Business
- Computer Science

The program allows graduates to enter the job market directly, should they choose not to continue with further studies. They will be equipped to work as legal professionals in both the private and public sectors, with a strong interdisciplinary background that enables them to engage with contemporary challenges, such as the use of Big Data and application of artificial intelligence.
To achieve these educational goals, students will acquire basic legal skills designed to provide the essential legal notions and concepts, to orient themselves in the national, European Union and international regulatory system, and to develop the logical-argumentative techniques underlying legal reasoning.
They will also compulsorily acquire computer science and machine learning skills, as well as economic-business knowledge.

In the third year, students can choose elective courses aimed at in-depth study of emerging legal topics, related to sustainability, privacy, digitalization, and tax planning. These teachings help the students develop a level of specialization that is increasingly in demand on the job market.
Alongside rigorous academic training, the program emphasizes practical experience.
Starting from the second year, students can choose between labs, internships, and professional training opportunities.
Labs offer practical legal training such as: drafting legal documents, learning negotiation and mediation techniques and exploring compliance strategies. Students may also begin the first six months of the internship required for becoming a Labor Consultant during the Bachelor’s program.

The program’s blended learning model combines live online classes, recorded lectures and active learning experiences (interactive activities).
A key feature is the use of e-tivities, carried out individually or in groups, in synchronous or asynchronous mode, designed to develop students’ problem solving skills. Examples include: participating in online forums on specific legal topics, working on case studies that simulate real legal challenges and discussing academic and legal materials assigned by professors.

The program concludes with the writing and defense of a final thesis. Upon graduation, students are awarded a joint Bachelor’s degree in Scienze Giuridiche e Innovazione.
This qualification provides direct access to, as well as access to Master’s degree programs and first-level postgraduate courses, according to the admission requirements of each institution.
