Overview
The course program in “Filosofia” is aimed at the training of graduate specialists in possession of in-depth theoretical and methodological tools in the field of philosophical studies.
Along with a solid understanding of the historical evolution of philosophical thought, it aims to provide the ability to analyze and understand the theoretical problems of philosophical inquiry, the essential themes of the theory of knowledge, ethics and aesthetic reflection, also in view of the interpretation of cultural phenomena and of the analysis of the complex cognitive and communicative processes that characterize today’s society.
The course also aims to acquire mastery, in written and oral form, of at least two languages of the European Union beyond Italian, also with reference to the specific lexicons of the disciplines.
Graduates in Philosophy will be able to carry out professional activities in various fields, performing the role of manager / functionary / consultant, employee or freelance in public and private cultural institutions: libraries, museums, foundations, parks and science centers, galleries, services social and orientation, for training and curricular planning, some types of tourism, accommodation and similar activities.
Graduates can also act as editor or editor in publishing houses, newspapers and magazines, companies specialized in electronic and multimedia publishing, press / advertising and public relations offices, company staff offices.
Given the wide preparation achieved, rich in interdisciplinary aspects, graduates will be able to operate as experts in human resources management, as assistants of the personnel manager or personnel in charge of personnel selection and management. Finally, graduates will be able to operate effectively also in the case of large companies, not only as personnel for personnel selection and management, but also as promoters of the synergic relationships between the company and external bodies or internal associations.
To this end, starting from the 2016/2017 academic year, as part of a university project that also covers other degree courses in non-humanistic disciplines, a specific path is activated in agreement with a group of companies called Master’s Degree Plus in Philosophy. Students taking part in the project carry out a one-year paid internship in a company.
The degree dissertation will cover topics and issues related to the experience carried out according to a project agreed between university and company. The degree course is extended by one semester.
The course also addresses the profession of teacher in secondary schools for the classes of Philosophy and Human Sciences and Philosophy and History.

Filosofia can be activate as a “LM+”, a special Master’s Degree program made up of 5 semesters rather than 4. In the last 2 semesters students are offered a training period in a company, during which expenses are reimbursed. Learn more here
Career opportunities
The course leads to teaching profession in secondary schools of first and second degree level, as well as research in the field of philosophical disciplines.
Graduates in Philosophy will also be able to carry out professional activities in several fields, performing the role of manager / functionary / consultant, employee or freelancer in public and private cultural institutions: libraries, musea, foundations, parks and science centers, galleries, social services and tourism orientation and additional similar activities.
Graduates might play important roles in the creation and organization of events in the field of cinema and theaters, as well as become editor in publishing houses, newspapers and magazines, companies specialized in electronic and multimedia publishing, press / advertising and public relations offices, company staff offices.
Given the wide preparation aquired, rich in interdisciplinary aspects, graduates will be able to operate as experts in human resources management, assistants of the personnel manager or personnel in charge of personnel selection and management.
Finally, graduates shall be able to operate effectively also in big companies, not only for personnel selection and management, but also as promoters of synergic relationships between the company and external bodies or internal associations.
