Specific requirements for Non-EU applicants: Students who want to enrol in an Italian University need an official recognition by an Italian authority in their home country of the equality of their qualification to the Italian one. Students from extra-European countries must request a student VISA to the Italian authority in their country. This procedure takes a long time. Students must contact the Italian authority in their country to receive precise information concerning procedures, deadlines and documentation required to obtain a VISA. Embassies in specific non-EU countries might require English language knowledge certificates to accept pre-enrollment and VISA applications. |

Overview
This two-year English Language Master’s Degree course is offered by the Department of Humanities, recognised as a Department of Excellence by the Italian Ministry of Education for 2018-2022 and ranked top 30 in 2018 QS World Ranking for subject Classics & Ancient History.
Throughout the course, students will have the opportunity to study the Mediterranean World, considered through Archaeology and History in a unique perspective, combining all the civilisations facing the Mediterranean from the 2nd millennium to the Middle Ages. The course makes full use of Pavia rich archaeological landscape: Pavia is surrounded by world-class Prehistoric, Roman and Medieval heritage and by several Museums with historic Egyptian,Greek, Etruscan and Roman collections.
Students will benefit of:
- Official agreements between the University and several Italian and international Institutions, such as New York University – Institute of Study for Ancient World, the Egyptian Museum of Turin, the Soprintendenza of Piedmont and the Istituto Villa Adriana-Villa d’Este at Tivoli, Rome.
- Possibilities of internships in Italy and abroad
- Regular study trips and fieldwork opportunities, such as archaeological excavations, surveys and Museums lab) in Cappadocia (Turkey) and in several parts of Italy, including at two UNESCO world heritage sites, Hadrian’s Villa at Tivoli and Dos dell’Arca in Valcamonica.
